Excellent plugin and really appreciate you bringing this to the community!

Working with my theme developer to tighten up Google Page Speed scores and the last remaining issue are the Google font calls, as you are obviously very familiar.

The issue we’re having is the plugin can’t find a Google font that I’m using on my WP site. The font that the plugin can’t find is called “Droid Sans”. Also when you select “Roboto” and its “100 weight”, it’s not importing it.

    Please advise!

    Thanks!
    Randy

    Hi @randykepple,

This sucks. CAOS for Webfonts uses the Google Fonts API, which only indexes the open source catalog. Droid Sans is actually a premium font available on fonts.com — which Google Fonts links to on their own page.

Sadly, I can’t reproduce your issue with the Roboto font. Could you give more specific instructions of the steps you take to reproduce this issue?

Let me touch base with my developer and get back to you on the Roboto font issue. I don’t want to jump in the middle of the other work they are doing and add a layer of complexity.

Regarding the Droid Sans font, it’s a Google Android font:
    https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/list/foundry/google-android

Not sure how that works with Google Fonts API. Interesting dilemma for sure!

Yes, but that’s on fontsquirrel. CAOS for Webfonts uses Google Fonts, where it’s listed as a premium font: https://fonts.google.com/?query=Droid+sans

Here are the steps to reproduce the issue I’m having:

First, generate Roboto with font weight 100, 400 and 700, then generate Oswald with 400 and 700, after doing that the Roboto weight 100 will disappear.

    Try the following:
    – Search ‘Roboto’ and wait till the list is populated.
    – Remove all options till only 100, regular and 700 are left.
    – [DON’T PRESS ‘GENERATE STYLESHEET’.]
    – Search ‘Oswald’ and wait till the result are appended to the list.
    – Remove all of Oswald’s option till only regular and 700 are left — together with Roboto’s options.
    – Press ‘generate stylesheet’.

When I follow these steps I get a stylesheet with all the fonts I’ve added, including 100.

Looks like that sequence resolved the issue! Thank you!
