• I set up a wordpress site with Cart66 for a client and I cannot get it to function correctly. I’ve been struggling for weeks and the client is just about ready to kill me!

There are 2 ways to buy things from the site– order and pay now with PayPal standard, or order and pay later (print receipt and mail with a check). When someone chooses the latter, the order appears just fine in the Cart66 dashboard and the customer and client both get a copy of the receipt.

When the customer pays with PayPal, they will receive a PayPal notification of the transaction, but they do not receive a receipt from Cart66 and the order does NOT appear in the Cart66 dashboard.

I have checked the IPN settings about a hundred times and have tested extensively with Sandbox, but PayPal is simply unable to communicate with Cart66 and I can’t figure out why.

The site is hosted on Yahoo (which I later learned was a terrible choice for WordPress support) so I wonder if there is something Yahoo-related that is blocking the IPN from reaching Cart66. Has anyone heard of an issue with Yahoo preventing successful communication between PayPal and shopping carts? I’ve googled the sh*t out of the problem and have not found anything helpful.

The client would really like to offer digital products, but that’s not possible as long as this problem persists.

    Anyone??

  • I was banging a dent into my forehead with a similar issue, and I now have carpal tunnel syndrome from googling too much.

I kept getting the 403 forbidden response from PayPal IPN. It had nothing to do with Cart66 or PayPal, but everything to do with the security measures taken on the site. If you have .htaccess rules or plugins that block robots or user agents (e.g. Bad Behavior) it’s possible that you need to make an exception for PayPal’s robot which sends a POST back to your site.

    Hope this helps.

Is this something Wordfence might be doing?

How do you make an exception for PayPal’s robot so that it can send the POST back to your website?

    Thanks.

    Sheri
