[Plugin: Category Posts Widget] Page of Posts Category Widget = No posts displayed

Hello,

I am trying to use category-posts widget and it does not appear to be working. I am trying to have the widget display posts from a particular category “news”.

All of my “news” posts are categorized correctly. Thing is, I have a page of posts using the php code found here https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Pages that is also built from the “news” category.

That page of posts is displaying all the posts with the category “news” correctly. But, I think this is somehow conflicting with the widget and preventing the widget from displaying the posts with the same category.

When I set the category-posts widget to anything other than the “news” category, the widget works fine. The widget just won’t display any posts from that news category. I have tried adding another category to all “news” posts and having the widget look to that category – that also did not work.

Is there something I should be doing to my page of posts code that would prevent this conflict? Or is it just not possible to use the category-posts widget on a category that is also feeding a “page of posts”?
