I encountered this problem while testing automated abandoned cart emails. This problem occurs only when I am logged into the website as a registered user – I add products to my cart but then they disappear without loading another page or refreshing. Similarly, if I have products in my cart and remove them, they reappear in my cart again. The cart seems to “remember” its contents after a certain point which I then cannot change.

  • Hi nosajgnuel,

Good to hear from you. In order to take a look into this, could you please let us know the following:

    – Does this happen only when our plugin is enabled? If so, could you please share a link to your site with us?

That will let us take a closer look into this behavior and poke around a bit. We look forward to hearing back and digging in.

    Thanks again!

Hi Pearl – this is my dev site – https://dev.shopjbp.com. If you register a user, add products to the cart and then try to remove them, you will see the issue. This problem only occurs with the plugin activated.

    Hey nosajgnuel,

Thanks for that! I went ahead and tested out your cart, and I’m also seeing that strange behavior. I definitely want to dig in and see what’s going on!

Frequently, when wonky things like this happen it has to do with theme or plugin conflicts. To rule that out, could you please try using another woocommerce compatible theme to see if the problem still persists? Beyond that, please let us know the following:

    – The theme you’re currently using
    – All active plugins currently in use

Thanks! I look forward to hearing back and helping out.

Hi Pearl – I changed the theme to Online StoreVersion: 1.0.3 By Themes4WP and the strange Cart behaviour is still there. The theme that I am using usually is Bazar Version: 2.6.7 By Your Inspiration Themes.
The active plugins I have are :
Anything Popup by Gopi Ramasamy – 6.0
MailChimp for WooCommerce by MailChimp – 1.0.3
Nextend Facebook Connect by Roland Soos – 1.5.9
WooCommerce – Show products IDs by Remi Corson – 1.0
WPML Multilingual CMS by OnTheGoSystems – 3.3.7
Widget Logic by Alan Trewartha – 0.57
WooCommerce Direct Variation Link by WP BackOffice – 1.0.3
    WooCommerce Alipay Cross-Border by WooThemes – 1.91
    WooCommerce Loyalty Rewards by IgniteWoo.com – 4.0.7
WooCommerce Multilingual by OnTheGoSystems – 3.7.12
WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips by Ewout Fernhout – 1.5.26
WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping by Bolder Elements – 3.6.4
    WooCommerce by WooThemes – 2.5.2
WPML Media by OnTheGoSystems – 2.1.20
WPML String Translation by OnTheGoSystems – 2.3.7
WPML Translation Management by OnTheGoSystems – 2.1.6
YITH WooCommerce Ajax Product Filter by YITHEMES – 2.8.1
YITH WooCommerce Wishlist by Yithemes – 2.0.13

    Hey there,

Thanks for getting back to us with all of that information. I went ahead and preformed some tests on our end, and I was still unable to replicate the behavior in our testing environment while using the themes mentioned. In order to continue trouble shooting, could you please let me know what PHP version is currently being used, and if minimum server requirements are being met for woocommerce? Those requirements can be found here, if needed: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/server-requirements/

    Thanks again!

    Hi Pearl,

My config is below which meets the WC minimum requirements :
    PHP 5.6.27
    MySQL 5.6.28
    WooCommerce 2.5.2 with WordPress 4.4.1
    WP Memory limit of 256MB

    Thanks.

    Hey nosajgnuel,

I appreciate that – wonderful, we can rule that out as a possible culprit. This is an interesting issue.

While testing on my end I was able to add the majority of the plugins noted in our testing environment, and some of the plugins did seem to have an effect on the shopping cart to some extent. However, I was unable to replicate the exact behavior and could not locate all of the listed plugins in the plugin store. To continue investigating and to rule out potential plugin conflicts, could you please temporarily deactivate all other installed plugins aside from ours to see if the issue persists? If it does not, I would then re-activate each plugin one by one to narrow down what is causing the issue. If you could follow up with us about this, it would be greatly appreciated. That would allow the plugin developers to dig in further and see if there is anything we can do to reduce instances like this from occurring.

    Thanks again,

    Pearl

    Hi Pearl,

I deactivated all plugins as suggested except for Mailchimp and WC and then reactivated them again one by one. The issue looks to be being caused by the WPML suite of plugins. I have 5 WPML plugins which all need to be active for the suite to work so Im not sure which of the 5 is the problem but it is related to one of them. The 5 plugins are – WPML Multilingual CMS, WooCommerce Multilingual, WPML Media, WPML String Translation, WPML Translation Management. When I have these 5 plugins turned on, I get the problem.

    Hey nosajgnuel,

Thank you for getting back to us with that information, and for drilling down to which specific plugins were conflicting with the plugin. I went ahead and passed that information along to our developers for further investigation. No ETA, so for now as a workaround another theme that doesn’t require those plugins should help reduce issues with cart item persistence. I’ll be sure to update the thread here whenever I get additional information.

Please let us know if you have any other plugin related questions in the future!

    Thanks again,

    Pearl
