Plugin changes my settings with every update
-
This is a great plugin and I have it installed on dozens of client sites. I see that Yoast developers are talking about phasing out some of the advertising, which would be great. However, there’s another matter that needs attention: Every time I update the plugin, it resets some of the settings I’ve made.
Specifically, I don’t ever want to see the “Duplicate Post” control in my admin bar. The admin bar on my clients’ sites is already cluttered enough. So for each site, I’ve unchecked that box in the settings for this plugin. If I change settings, there’s a reason I did so, and I don’t appreciate the plugin undoing the settings I chose every time I update to the next version.
This does nothing but create extra work for me, since now I have to go into the plugin settings on each client site and redo what I’ve done before. This is especially egregious when there are a lot of rapid update releases. I don’t have time to be repeating the same simple plugin settings adjustments over and over again on dozens of sites.
I hope this is fixed soon. If it’s not I’ll bulk-delete and look for something else.

The plugin authors quickly responded to my review and explained that the plugin overriding user settings was a bug and that they would fix it. Today it was announced fixed. I’ve adjusted my rating from 3 to 5 stars, since I use this plugin on hundreds of client sites and I’ve enjoyed its evolution and improvement over the years and it provides indispensable features.
