When an Admin modified a Post via Quick Edit mode, the original author is removed and the logged in username is linked.

If I disable the plugin, it works how it suppose to.

I tried to fix the bug.

    I commented the
    add_action( ‘load-edit.php’, array( $this, ‘remove_quick_edit_authors_box’ ) );
line in co-authors-plus.php file and the bug is gone.
Except, you cannot use the Author dropdown in Quick Edit mode to change authors. You must Full Edit the Post to change authors.

I’m wondering, if anybody could come up with hiding the author dropdown in Quick Edit mode and still maintain the original author. That would be perfect fix.

I hope the authors of this plugin can release a fix fast.

  • My authors keep resetting themselves without even going to this step.. I think the plugin must be having problems on the latest version of WordPress

    Same here, any update?

We just had our authors broken while updating categories on 700 posts

I’m not able to reproduce this issue using WordPress trunk with the latest version of Co-Authors Plus.

To clarify, the authors dropdown shouldn’t show up when you’re Quick Editing or Bulk Editing content from the Manage Posts screen.

If it does show up for you, could you share a screenshot and the list of plugins you have running?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

If you read my post, I mentioned, there was a bug and to fix the bug I commented a line and product of that I see the drop down. Of course if I hadn’t commented the drop down wouldn’t have shown, but the bug would have persisted.

I’m still not able to reproduce this problem.

To clarify on what I’m doing:

    1) Logged in as a “contributor”, I create a new post and save it as draft
    2) I log out and log back in as an admin. Using Quick Edit, I change the post from draft to pending review

After I’ve saved the changes, the post is still saved with the “contributor” as the author.

    I’m using Co-Authors Plus v2.5.3 with WordPress 3.3

Are you still experiencing the bug?

Thanks for the plugin. I am experiencing a twist on the above
    WP 3.3.2
    Co-Authors Plus Version 2.6.4

Fairly recent posts quick edit works as expected (author is not changed when performing a quick edit). Older posts using quick edit to change custom taxonomy term causes the author to be set to logged in user. ?!? I’m at a bit of a loss as to what is different between them that would cause different behavior. Any ideas?

@colind were you able to track this down further?

No, the primary use case for quick edit was to apply this new taxonomy to two merged blogs before launching as a new site. Now that we’ve done that the need for quick edit is less important. We’re still happily using co-authors.

You can call my version of the issue resolved if you like.

Yeah, let’s go ahead and close it. I’m not able to reproduce with this information, and I don’t have any good ideas as to why this might be happening. If it happens again, please let me know with more details on your setup.
