[Plugin: Collapsing Categories] auto-expand problem

It appears the “auto-expand these categories” function works ONLY when the “Expand categories assigned to a particular post on a single post page” option is also selected. Is it possible to auto-expand WITHOUT also choosing this second option?

I have a zillion posts and all are categorized into multiple categories, so I don’t want to use that “Expand cats assigned to a particular post” feature because it will expand all the cats when a visitor views a post.
