[Plugin: Collapsing Categories] Double end a tag in sub categories

Using version 2.0.2 I am getting a double end a tag </span> in sub categories when viewed in the page source causing 104 errors in validation. Its OK in the main category with just a single .

Any suggestions as to possible cause or a fix?
