    Hello,

I’m using WP Mobile Detector v1.8 in my website (https://opistobranquis.info/en) and it works flawlessly both in desktop and mobile platforms, thank you very much Websitez for this superb tool, it allowed me to create a mobile version of my site, in no time and with very little extra work.

However, due to a recent security upgrade in one of my installed plugins (Zotpress by Katie Seaborn) I am experiencing certain functional problems with it. After a systematic enable/disable cycle test across all installed plugins, a conflict with Mobile Detector was revealed: If Mobile Detector is active, Zotpress cannot import data from remote servers.

After contacting Zotpress developer, we performed several tests, and the problem apparently is something related to “nonces” (https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_Nonces), that become unexpectedly “changed” when Mobile Detector is active, otherwise everything works just fine.

Zotpress developer Katie Seaborn helped me a lot to pinpoint the problem and offered assistance in case anyone could help to solve the problem.

Any ideas ? Thank you in advance for your time !

Miguel, do you mean the Zotpress plugin doesn’t work at all? Or it doesn’t work on the mobile webpages?

If you turn on WordPress debug in the wp-config.php file, do you see an obvious notice/warning about a conflict?

The plugin only really switches out a theme, and filters content, so if the plugin Zotpress has a reliance on the functions.php file of the desktop theme, it could cause issues.

Hi, Zotpress plugin does work, but not with all functionality. There is a import option in the Zotpress backend that does not work when Mobile Detector plugin is active. What I do, to date, is deactivate Mobile Detector, use the import option for Zotpress, and reactivate Mobile Detector.

My guess is that the problem is not related to theme change, but to the content filtering you mentioned.

Easier way to pinpoint the problem is to install Zotpress and Mobile Detector plugins in a new WordPress installation -of course it needs a Zotero account and a few bibliographic references loaded in Zotero servers to synchronize- then go to Zotpress “Selective import” option, and an error appears instead of the normal functionality of the plugin.

By debugging the error, there’s some issue about “nonces”, that become unexpectedly “changed” when Mobile Detector is active, otherwise everything works just fine.

I am coming out with a new version in a few weeks that you could try that is a major rewrite of the plugin.

But it was originally designed to strict WordPress specs. We’ve had about a dozen of these issues in the past, mostly related to gallery plugins, but it has always turned out that it was a problem with the other plugin.

When you’re in the admin panel, my plugin only has functionality on its own pages as limited by WordPress itself.

I’ll put it on my list of things to look into though.

Thank you very much for checking this.

Yes, after checking with the author of Zotpress plugin, she told me that the problem in admin panel is not related to functions.php and the problem could be with the filters.

I have not experienced any other problems with Mobile Detector, in fact installing Mobile Detector solved a long time bad CSS misbehaviour of the Jetpack Mobile Theme with my Google Maps implementation, it tinkered with Google CSS and objects displayed in the wrong positions in the map (but only in places to the West of Greenwich meridian…). Using your Mobile plugin solved it all.

The problem is still happening: If I keep Mobile Detector activated, I cannot perform a Zotpress library import. However, deactivating Mobile Detector allows Zotpress to work flawlessly.

I will wait for the new version of Mobile Detector, hoping that, being a full rewrite, this incompatibility does not show. That will make me happy.

Thanks for your time and dedication. Best,
