PLUGIN COMPLETELY BROKEN – CSV EXPORTS CORRUPTED

Sorry to hear you had this issue.

Indeed we found a recent bug in Forminator 1.19, and we suggest downgrading to 1.18.X in case the export feature is causing this issue.

Our developers and Test team work hard to improve the form every release, but unfortunately, some bugs are found after the release, but once again, we do apologies for the trouble and I hope we can release the fixed version asap.

My client relies on having a daily spreadsheet with hundreds of entries so she can deliver school lunches to paying customers. Any errors that happen are a major headache dealing with parents and issuing refunds, sometimes leaving kids without a lunch for the day.

I was able to quickly revert to a working version of Forminator and export our spreadsheets again using the WP Rollback plugin. You may want to let other users know about that – and maybe test your plugin more thoroughly in the future before pushing updates.

Please note that the same bug is in v1.20.1 also. Please fix that bug. Presumably it should be an easy fix, given that if it was already working on 1.18.x.

By the way I tried to load v1.18.2 over v1.20, but I could not as I get the error that the link that I am trying to use has already expired.

Please don’t suggest to remove the new version to load the old version!

I am afraid, the bug is not yet fixed and unfortunately, I cannot provide an ETA on this at the moment.

Please don’t suggest to remove the new version to load the old version!

I am afraid, it’s not possible to run two versions of the same plugin simultaneously on a WordPress installation. You will have to remove the new version to activate Forminator v1.18.2

This is still broken. Do what is right and release a quick patch to resolve the issue instead of letting what was an awesome plugin get negative flack for such a simple bug. I run dozens of sites all using this plugin to get data from forms and they are all broken now.

Yes, I would also agree with that. Please do what is necessary to fix this simple export issue with CSV files. You have a really good Plugin, but this is a serious issue and can become a deterrent for future users, when they consider form plug-ins for their website. Please release a patch soonest.

By the way the issue is NOT RESOLVED YET! ?? So don’t mark it as resolved, the ticket may be deemed closed, but NOT resolved.

2 weeks ago there was an update with fix which has cover empty fields and that part is fixed. Our Team still work on fix to cover hidden field as well. Please stay tune to our roadmap: https://wpmudev.com/roadmap/

I checked my sites today and don’t see an update for the plugin yet. I can’t share my form data as it contains confidential data. It isn’t hard to understand though and replicate… hidden fields that don’t receive data depending on how visitors fill out the form – those fields don’t show in the downloaded CSV file which causes all the other fields that do have data to be off for their respective column.

Yes, the bug can be easily recreated by creating a simple form with 5 or 6 fields in it. And then fill out the form, but leave a few fields blank. Then export the Submissions. You will see that the blank fields have all been collapsed to the left, meaning there is no null value.

Typically you would expect two commas with nothing inside it for all blank fields.

I am sure the bug we are discussing here should be quite obvious, but providing an example to avoid any confusion!

For example, if I have a form with the following fields,
Name email, phone, age, city
John [email protected] London
but I didn’t enter any values for phone and age, the CSV would come out as
John,[email protected],London

But the CSV should really be
John,[email protected],,,London
Notice the extra commas before London.

If this bug is fixed, please provide the link where we can get the patch!!

On my order forms I made all the name, email, etc required so that data was ok. But then on the main part of the form I had a select field for each day of the month which would become hidden based off a “current date” field once the day had passed. So you can imagine how messed up the CSVs were becoming without the null values being added. We have since switched to Gravity Forms and have had literally no problems. Our sales are way up, customer satisfaction is up, and I don’t get any angry 6am phone calls from my client ?

There will always be fields that we cannot setup as Required fields.

Yes indeed, I am sure there are other premium forms with many features and certainly without this bug, but this is not a major bug that is difficult to fix. So I would hope that the Forminator team would release a patch to fix this issue.

Forminator is certainly one of the best truly free form builder that I have come across so far.
