further to this, I have unchecked Print JS in the slider advanced settings and now I get the popup working and the slider inital slide shows up. Going to leave it this way until resolved. something in the metaslider js seems to be conflicting.

    Hi,

What error did you see when you have both enabled? You can find the errors in the browser console:

    Console doesnt show any errors.

I have used the plug in for years now and today it isn’t working. I have tried adding new slides, but the image never shows up on the slide. This is the website I am working on: https://www.ecosacramento.net/. The two square sliders in the middle of the page are not working properly. The one on the right I have had to reduce to one slide, which says “ENvironmentalist of the Year awards.” I opened the “browser console” as instructed above, but do not know how to read the info there. The one on the left is now not displaying properly either.

    Hi @ecos1526

You should open your own issue so the conversation doesn’t get lost.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/ml-slider#new-post

Your issue is likely either from server caching, or otherwise you will need to check the browser console when trying to save a slide. If the slide isn’t saving, the error is on the admin side.

Please reply in a new issue. Thanks

    Hi @jfrancais

Should have a solution later on today.

    Hi @jfrancais,

I can’t seem to reproduce it. It loads just fine for me. Is it possible for you to enable everything and let me look at it in a broken state? Maybe create a new popup that only loads on a specific page and put a new slider with JS enabled on that page? You can leave JS off on your existing slider.

Here’s how it loads for me: https://prnt.sc/w4skdo

When Print JS is turned off for the slider:
    https://prnt.sc/w4xd86
    https://prnt.sc/w4xdjv

When Print JS is turned on for the slide, the page doesnt scroll and the popup never appears
    https://prnt.sc/w4xejg

I tried creating a debug page that was a duplicate but when I created a second slide I couldnt get it to appear anywhere

I also tried to export the slides so I coudl import on a new site and the export doesnt seem to bring any of the individial slides along. There also shows 2 other sliders in the export that don’t exist at all so something seems quite messed up.

Based on your last two statements it sounds like there is another issue going on that’s breaking part of your site at the server level.

Can you check the server logs for error messages? You may need to enable WP debugging to see useful error messages (let me know if you need help with that).

If you can, you should try disabling other plugins until you are able to create new slides, and import/export. Those features should work and if not, something it interacting with them.

My initial guess is you have something filtering the WP loop improperly, which would cause slides not to show.

Nothing is wrong at a server level. I have taken a complete copy of the site and replicated it elsewhere and the problem follows. I have also disabled all plugins but the two I mentioned and the problem remained. It is also possible that is is a combination of the theme (Vantage PremiumVersion: 2.4.2) with these two plugins.

Now that I have a replication of the website in a staging area, I could grant you access to it if that would be helpful. I would just need an email address to set it up with.

    Hi,

Have you disabled the Vantage theme on the staging area? Can you disable everything and see if it works? We have hundreds of thousands of users using the plugin and I test it almost daily so its not likely to have such a core feature (export/import) broken.

It’s just a matter of identifying the conflict, whether it’s a plugin, theme, hosting, browser, or something new.

With a default WP theme and MetaSlider active only, does everything work?

If then only activating the popup plugin, does anything break?

Can you check the export feature as well during those scenarios?

The Vantage team are helpful as well, and I can try to reach out to them too in case we discover it’s specific to that theme.

OK, I switched theme to Twenty-Twenty One, disabled all plugins but the two mentioned and the problem still exists.

I created a new slider with two basic slides (image only) and the problem still exists.

    Hi,

When switching to 2021, did the export/import work? regardless of what plugins are active?

So glad I found this thread! I’m having the exact same problem.
Unchecking Print JS in the slider advanced settings as suggested by the OP stops metaslider from working.

    Update:
If I choose R.Slides, it works normally. The others don’t.
