    Hi Team,
Wordfence has a conflict with the Google Web Stories plugin.
When Wordfence is enabled, the Google Web Stories Plugin gives this error when trying to save a web story:
“Failed to save the story: The response is not a valid JSON response.”

My host said they had seen this issue before and they simply disabled Wordfence and now the Google Webs Stories plugin works as it should.

I hope a fix will be on the way soon! It’s important for bloggers to be able to use Google’s products.
    Thanks!

Hi @tlc72, thanks for getting in touch about this.

The reason for the invalid JSON response is due to either a false-positive block in the background, or another reason for the response from the server coming back in plain text or HTML rather than the format Web Stories is expecting.

I would first deactivate?“Prevent discovery of usernames through ‘/?author=N’ scans, the oEmbed API, the WordPress REST API, and WordPress XML Sitemaps”?in Wordfence > All Options > Brute Force Protection > Additional Options and try saving Web Stories again.

Let me know how you get on!
    Peter.
