I found the problem, kind of, but I believe it may be a bug in Contact Form 7.

I use Rich Text Editor For Comments and this is also added to the textarea of Contact Form 7 (by default).

In the form email settings, I selected “Use HTML content type” so the messages sent would not be filled with anchor and paragraph tags created by Rich Text Editor For Comments. However “Use HTML content type” seems to strip and remove email addresses completely.

    Please advise.

What other plugins do you use?

I actually decided to use this method – Adding visual editor to WordPress comments box – to add a visual editor to my comments instead. This method did not add a visual editor to the Contact Form 7 textarea, which is what I preferred, anyway.

If you truly want to look more into it, I will list them all out, but there are quite a bit, so let me know.

I should also note: I have disabled “Rich Text Editor For Comments”

Now the email address prints in the sent email whether the “Use HTML content type” box is checked or unchecked.
