[Plugin: Contact Form 7] GoDaddy SMTP Relay Issues
-
My client is using a WordPress site built by another developer. The site is on WP version 2.9.1 and uses Contact Form 7 (version 2.1.1) for a variety of forms on the site. The most important one is a voting form where users can vote on which contestants they want to see win a prize. The form is set up to send a thank you email to the user that confirms who they voted for. The form also BCC’s a copy to the client at a dedicated email address, so they can tabulate the votes manually. The form works fine and the client is satisfied with it. However, after running for most of the day yesterday, the form suddenly stopped generating emails. We go the dreaded red box. The site is hosted on GoDaddy and because — according to GoDaddy — the form has used too many SMTP relays and after 1000 per day it shuts off.
The only alternative they offered was to change hosting to another company that allows unlimited SMTP relays. I would rather not have to move the site or have the client suffer additional expenses here. Are there any other options here or are we stuck changing hosts? And, do any hosts actually allow unlimited SMTP relays? Thanks.
