  • I just wanted to make a post to say that Content Warning v2 is great. It is a big improvement over the original.

A couple of notes that may help new users:

You won’t see the warning box if you are logged in as administrator. You need to log out or use a different browser to test the warning box.

When upgrading to v2.3.0 the fancy admin drop down menus stopped working in Chrome making the admin options inaccessible. A quick and easy fix is to empty Chrome’s cache.

Thanks Jerry for fixing the old plugins shortcomings and making it really useful.

    @thorsdad,

I’ll put that info in the FAQ on the next update. I’m glad you found it useful though. On the plus side, I think I know how to fix the caching issue with the administrator panels ??

On a side note, I would like to apologize for my inability to respond as I have had an amazingly odd work schedule lately. Thankfully that week is over though ??

    Question:

How does one change the lightbox color? Instead of just “greyed out” I would like to “black out” everything on the screen in until a button is pressed.

    Thanks,

Josh on my site comments wrote:

    2. Opacity of the dark background in thickbox isn’t dark enough to block adult images. My solution was to modify the WordPress thickbox CSS at \wp-includes\js\thickbox\thickbox.css and change .TB_overlayBG to use 95% opacity. I also modified macFFBgHack.png in the same folder, making the image less transparent.

I haven’t done it myself but this is a good idea.

Would be nice if, in admin interface, it could be switched to be disabled by default on posts / pages, then a select to be enabled on select ones. Or perhaps enabled only for a category. Trying to find something that can be used as Age Gate / Lock for viewing game trailers as required by the publisher.

The plugin already possesses that ability, though not for categories. It is page and post specific.

    Use the following settings

    Enable content Warning
    Uncheck Site-Wide access
    Allow Per-Page/Post overrides
    Default for Overrides (dialog disabled)

Then within the edit post/page admin panel, the sidebar has “Override CW Dialog”, click Enable CW Dialog.

This will require the content warning on pages and or posts that have the “enable cw dialog” option checked within their respective admin panels.

    Hey Jerry,

CW doesn’t work with 3.3 apparently. Do you know when you’ll have the fix?

    Thank you!!

@mkampitsch: Make sure you are not logged in as admin.

I’ve updated a couple of sites to 3.3 and Content Warning v2 works on both of them.

i installed but when i go to the page to see if i see it, it doesnt show me, i want to know if i am doing something wrong?

@julioh4: You need to log out of your WordPress Control Panel. You don’t see the warning when you are an Admin.

Now it works, there was something wrong with the scripts loading ??

    Thank you!

i see it does work thank you Very Much, How Can I Put it that it will be Only Certain post with Content Warning?

I would love options to enlarge the window, right now I’m trying to do an adult warning on my website and I really don’t think the thickbox is large enough. I’m going to try hacking it myself until there is an option for it. Also options for opacity as mentioned above without having to hack the files manually would be awesome.

Personally I love how it can be used to protect the entire site, I was using the old method of a splash page that loaded my wordpress, which of course didn’t stop direct links to pages. Keep up the good work!
