  • I got something to that effect, too. It was because I had a similar auto-generating plugin already activated.

Hmmm, I just installed and activated the plugin and it worked just fine. @beinar – can you let us know which similar plugin caused this error for you, so that I can debug? @vanduzied – what was the fatal error that arose? Can you include it here for debugging purposes? For both of you, it’d be helpful to know what other plugins you have installed. Thanks – I’ll work on this ASAP once I get your responses.

Any update y’all? I’d love to know if this issue is persisting and get to the bottom of it.

I believe my plug-in was Fold page list (https://www.webspaceworks.com/resources/wordpress/30/). It was what I had been using previously to manage menus, so both wouldn’t normally be running together.

Gotcha, I’m going to mark this as resolved then. Please re-open if need be. Thanks!

I just tried to activate this plugin, but it wouldn’t activate and got the following fatal error:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /home/<sitehome>/public_html/wpdev/wp-content/plugins/auto-menu-from-pages/admin/class-auto-menu-from-pages-admin.php on line 345

I’m currently using the free version of the Quest theme, so it’s possible it’s a theme conflict.

    Hello @rdillard,

I’ve just tested the latest version of the plugin with the Quest theme, and it’s working great for me. The error message you’re getting is common when there is a plugin conflict, and I think that is what is likely happening in this case.

Can you reply with a list of the active plugins on your site? That will help us narrow down the conflict and hopefully get it resolved.

    Hi Braad,

Yes, it was another plugin conflict that is resolved now. Thanks so much for your testing and response.

    Hi, activate error:

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in J:\InstantWP_4.5\iwpserver\htdocs\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\auto-menu-from-pages\admin\class-auto-menu-from-pages-admin.php on line 345

I have used Sub Pages widget but remove it. Do I need to delete something in the database?

Same error for me but no other similar plugin activated.

I have polylang (I filter my menu by lang manually because I use Timber).
I tried several ones though a few weeks ago, yours included if I remind it well.

I can start the plugin if I comment out the call in includes/class-auto-menu-from-pages-activator.php (line 38). I tried to deactivate the plugin after, uncomment and reactivate it hoping it would have cleaned something, but it still gives the same error. Maybe there’s a clean up to do in the database?
