    Hello there,

I guess this has to go to Mr. Denis Kobozev to check it personally or juts give me some advise of what I’m doing wrong. I have a file with some data in Cyrillic and nor category or any of the custom fields are getting imported. I have an example of the file here : aptekite.com/apteki1-100.csv .

Note : I have a plugin called Cyr-Cho which looks to be getting some of the Cyrillic characters transmitted as I get a slug that looks pretty much like the original text. Really not sure what happens there but any help will be appreciated.

    Please advise,
    Stefan Batanov

P.S. WP version 2.9.2 in Bulgarian and CVS Importer 0.2.4

  • chefobat: It looks like your CSV file is using cp1251 encoding. You must save the file with utf-8 encoding for the plugin to work correctly.

    Dear Mr. Kobozev ,

Thank you for the quick reply. I’m sorry for the lame question but I had saved the file in notepad as unicode text bu then the plugin returned that the posts were skipped because of missing title. Shall I use OpenOffice Spreadsheet or some other program?

    regards,

    To all,

I have managed to use this great plugin. The process in my case was like that:

    1. Installed OpenOffice Calc – yes only this program from the whole package
    2. Opened the csv file with Calc.
    3. Saved it as ods.
    4. Saved the ods file as csv and chose Unicode UTF-8 (I have saved is before as simply Unicode but i guess there are a bunch of Unicode encodings also)

    Best of luck to all.

    Dear Mr. Kobozev,

First of all, congratulations for such a great plug-in.

On another note, I wanted to ask you whether it was possible to insert some kind of symbol or command in the csv_post_categories column so that I can upload post with their respective category and sub or child category.

For example, a post goes into the marketing category as well as into the seo subcategory.

Is there a way to configure child categories in the CSV file so that they are already organized when the posts are uploaded?

    Thank you!

alextc: You can choose a parent category for all imported posts via the plugin’s interface. I don’t know if that would satisfy your needs or not – it would help immensely if you posted what your category tree looks like and what it should look like after the import.
