  • I downloaded the plugin and activated it. I read all I could to implement the columns in my homepage, but can’t figure out how to make it work on my homepage at https://roundhousetalk.com How do you get your homepage to make 2 columns? I have a sidebar format already and want to keep that as I use several widgets I like. So I guess I want my homepage to have 2 columns plus the sidebar. I’m new so please be specific in what code, if any, to add and where (file and within the code).

    Hi jaydokie,

Not sure how your post relates to my thread?? I think you may have misunderstood what this plug-in does…!!??!! .. It adds custom columns to the WordPress Admin area, you can then show or hide these columns withint the “Screen Options” tab …

It doesn’t effect the actual front-end of a site in any way.

Ok. Thanks. Do you know a plugin that might? I hate to purchase a theme and then find out it would do what I want. So I was hoping I could find a plugin for my twenty eleven theme. It looks like the twenty twelve may, but I hate to chance the migration it becomes a problem. Any ideas?

I don’t think its a plugin type of thing you are looking for. What you really want to do is change the homepage template to include another column.

You should start looking into creating your own child theme and check out some tutorials for customizing the WordPress templates.

If that is all a bit more than you’re willing or able for right now…. then I would suggest using a good theme …. I’d recommend somewhere like https://www.themezilla.com/, where the themes are relatively new (as is the site) and will be well supported.

If WordPress is going to be something you will be getting into tho I would strongly recommend getting your head around child themes, WordPress templates, html, css and a little php….
