    @teauser, new sidebar data is stored in database, in the wp_options table for general sidebars and in the wp_postmeta table for specific sidebars for post and pages.

    @azzcat, for me it’s working nice, i think the problem may be a conflict with other plugin you have insalled. Can you tell me whwat plugins are you using?

    @kateduda, yes, you can change profile pages sidebars using the custom sidebars plugin.

    @marquex, thanks. Here’s what I did:

    Deactivated all plugins and just re-activated custom sidebars. Same issue.

    Changed out themes to 2010 and just custom-sidebar active. Same.

    Here’s the really curious part: my page view in admin won’t correctly display 2 columns. When toggling between 1 or 2 column view, it changes the width of column 1, but does not add 2nd column to right (regardless of which admin options I turn on/off).

    Again, works for posts, not pages. :/

    @marquex,

    Works on another dev site. So problem is on my end.

    Re-installed 3.1. Didn’t fix anything. Which means problem is somewhere else–and out of my skill set. ??

    @marquex,

    Well, I created an entirely new WP install and v.e.r.y. carefully uploaded and reinstalled the plugins I needed.

    Got custom sidebars working on pages and posts.

    Thanks!

    Nice azzcat!! probably you had something weird in your previous installation, plugin issue i think. I’m glad you make it work ??

    @marquex

    Is it possible to have multiple sidebars on a page? I’m using Traction 1.0 (by The Theme Foundry) and I can only create one sidebar per page.

    Wondering if it is a limitation of Custom Sidebars or of Traction.

    Thanks a lot.

    I’m afraid that is on your theme.

    Custom sidebars just replace the contents of your theme sidebar with the content you define. But the number of sidebars that are displayed and their position are defined by the theme. If your theme allows to customize the number of sb, you are lucky, otherwise you will have to change your theme or modify it to get more sidebars.

    Hello,

    your plugin is great! – its something which I have looked for quite a while but I do not know how to use it that I can change two sidebars at once. Any suggestions?

    @stoffl
    If you want to customize more than one sidebar, you need to mark them as replaceable in the custom sidebars menu.

    To do so, you have to click on them while pressing the SHIFT key, you will see how they are selected together.

    Then save the settings and when you go to the post edition page you will see the bars you have selectedfor replacement. You can change as many sidebars as your theme has.

    Cheers

    Hello Marquex,

    thank you for your fast help – the SHIFT key was the missing information ?? Now it works perfect.

    Cheers, Stoffl

    PS: will there be in the future also the possibility to remove the header?

    … one thing more: if I have 2 sidebars and want them empty (for affiliate for example) the main text goes always to the left side which do not look very good. Is there a chance that you can change it to the middle of the side on auto?

    Marquex,

    I’ve been reading through your support form and you seem very knowledgeable and helpful to others. I was hoping you might be able to help me with my issue. I can’t get html to show up on the page of my individual post. HTML will show up when I filter by categorie. For example, I filter for Excel: Excel Beginners and the HTML shows up on the filter page. However, when I open to view one of the post in the filtered list, the widget holding the HTML shows up but the HTML doesn’t show. Will you give it a try and tell me what you think it is? I currenlty only have a custom showing up for the filter page and posts of Access and Excel. I see no point in creating more until I get this issue resolved. Here is a link to the filtered excel category page: https://www.techmusthaves.com/blog_news/?category_name=excel-beginners . Notice that the HTML of the ad on the side is showing. However, notice that once you click on a filtered post in the list, the widget is still there but the HTML is not showing. This is the same case with a Text widget holding HTML. Do you have any advise for me?

    Hi Marquex,

    Firstly thanks for the plugin, works like charm. One question, could support be added for changing the sidebar for category archives? A lot of my content is displayed this way, and whist any post under the category will have its sidebar changed, the sidebar when viewing a categorys archive is the default one (unless im missing something in the settings). So e.g.

    mysite.com/category/sport/

    would use the default site sidebar

    but once I click into:

    mysite.com/2011/03/13/football-results-2011

    I get the custom sidebar set by default for that category

    Hope this makes sense, other than that this plugin is exactly what I need (and should be a default part of wordpress, hint hint devs :D).

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Hi,

    Does this plugin support multisite?

    I have tried to add to a multi site and whilst all options are saved when i try and add the new sidebar via the page editor the selection is not saved in the list of values drop down list if i revist the page edit screen thus no custom sidebar saved to the page

    Unless i need to add something to the themefile for it to be displayed?

    Thanks in advance,
    Sam
