  • Hi there
Ive just installed dashboard heaven and its a great idea to be able to control what the users see.
However… I’m not quite as techy as I thought I might be because I don’t understand what the dropdown options all mean…especially the levels 1 thru 10 ?

So let’s say that I dont want my users (contributors) to see wordpress news feed (simply because this will take them away from site)….which option out of the dropdown menu do I set?

Another thing I don’t like them seeing is the comments because they see all the spammy stuff until I have sent them to trash or spam folder. Shame really because it would be good for contributors oto see latest comments that I have approved and are on site. I cannot set NOBODY because that means the comments disppear from my dashboard too?

    Thankyou
    Karen

    Hi Karen,

The levels 1-10 are from the old WordPress permission system. You can also use the current capability based system. Just select the lowest level capability for the roles that you want the widget to be visible to.

Here is the codex link for more information https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Roles_and_Capabilities#Capability_vs._Role_Table

Just select the minimum capability of the user type you want the widget to be visible to and Bob’s your uncle! For the news feed, if you set it at ‘publish_posts’, authors and above can see it but contributors and below wont.

    Dave
