• I need some funcionality for WordPress that I’m 99% convinced hasn’t been developed yet.

I need an element of user tracking – basically to know which users have logged in and when and also which files they have downloaded.

Is someone up for building this? Admin please excuse and feel free to move/advise if this post is in the wrong place.

    Thanks.

  • The “when they logged in” part is easy enough, the hard part is how to determine what they downloaded. You’d have to limit that to: “files they downloaded via this special url that records the download.”

I have some php code to track downloads though I need this WordPress install to be user friendly so I can’t turn off the Wysisyg editor and install runPHP ??

Just for the record. I would be willing to pay for this plugin to be built.

I would really like the functionality of seeing when users logged on. do you know if there are any plugins like that out there already?

try the useronline plugin by GaMerZ. I use it in both 1.5 and 2.0 installations and have found it to be rock solid in 2.0 (1.5 for me does not always show the the logged in user names, many times logged in users just show up as guests). One cool thing is that it also shows which bots are online by name is well.

That would be fine as not all files would need to be tracked.

The way i envisage this working – an extra option on the file uploader of WordPress 2 that allows the user to insert a trackable link to a file.

    checksum,
