• Hi! I have updated wordpress to last version and installed the plugin. There are no spam registrations detected but only the option to manually check for spam. Is there an automatic way to do this?
    What do you mean by
“Unfortunately, WordPress did not record the IP address of User registrations prior to version 5.0. This is a design flaw in WordPress.”
    ?
Wordpress’s last version is 4.2.2 not 5. do you mean the plugin’s version maybe?

  • Probably the plugin’s version. In version 5 I started filling in the IP address in the last login user options table.

If you look at recently logged in users you should see the IP address. Stop Spammers adds this when a user registers or logs in and displays it on the user list.

I could, if I have time, make a batch program that goes out and checks StopForumSpam.com, but they have limits as to how many times you can check the db in a short period. Also some websites would have thousands of users. This kind of slow batch checks would take days.

I might make an add-on plugin that checks against my bad neighborhood information that I use in the Country checks. This would be faster, Although it might still time out in large systems. It would also just be a suggestion and further research would be required to make sure the IP is really a spammer.
