This plugin is broken. I have tried all configurations of the Digg Digg plugin but all seem to have a different Fatal Error. Sometimes it makes my sidebar disappear, sometimes it makes all my posts disappear.

I see that this problem goes back to at least MARCH of this year. Why hasn’t it been fixed yet?

I am using the WP-Ellie theme.

Here are the errors (most recent one first):

Fatal error: constructFloatingButtons() [function.constructfloatingbuttons]: The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition "DD_Digg" of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded _before_ unserialize() gets called or provide a __autoload() function to load the class definition in /home/XXXX/public_html/wp-content/plugins/digg-digg/digg-digg.php on line 278

Fatal error: dd_page_for_floating_display() [function.dd-page-for-floating-display]: The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition "DD_Digg" of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded _before_ unserialize() gets called or provide a __autoload() function to load the class definition in /home/XXXXX/public_html/wp-content/plugins/digg-digg/include/template/dd-template-floating-display.php on line 65

Can anyone help me? Also, is it possible to add your own icons instead of the default? That is if the floating problem ever gets fixed.

  • I am having this exact same problem- what a pain!

Did you ever manage to resolve this? Thanks.

Has anyone figured out how to fix this problem?

I also had the problem with digg-digg.
It seems the problem was caused by w3 cache. So I first disabled it; did the required digg-digg config and re-enabled the plugin.
And now it is solved. Hope it helped !

Yep, it’s definitely a conflict with w3 cache cause I just installed it and I’ve been getting the same thing.

Whenever I need to make changes, I do the necessary changes and then deactivate/active Digg Digg. A pain but it seems to work for now.

I don’t think I’m using W3 cache, but I’ll check. Hopefully this works. I’d also like to be able to add my own icons, but need to get it working correctly first.

I have this problem too while using object and database cache in W3 total cache. If you change the settings for the digg digg plugin you need to clear all cache and the problem is gone.

So I install it, clear cache and then it should work?

I just tried that. I now have a 503 error.

I don’t think that a 503 error is related to the plugin, maybe something related to some “bad” server setup?
Can you see what’s inside the log files?

    Thread Starter Shan

    (@shan-last-shreds-of-sanity)

No, it’s the plugin. It’s in the posts where some of the buttons should be.

sure but the error you’ve posted before is solved by flushing the cache.
BTW I don’t use file cache in w3tc

No the error was solved by disabling W3 Total Cache. I still don’t get why that plugin interferes with Digg Digg so much.

Now all I need to do is figure out this 503 error/button issue & find a way to add my own icons to this plugin and I’m set. Let’s face it, the icons supplied are ugly.

Yeah I really need to build my own button bar too ??

    Hi Shan and Olaf,

Thanks for the heads up on these issues. The problem is indeed the W3 cache. We are working on the issue, for now, there should be a quick workaround: Deactivate W3 cache temporarily; make all the changes/updates you need to DiggDigg. Then reactivate W3 cache again.

As regards the 503 error, this should now be fixed and longer happen.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions, you can always also Tweet me @leowid or email me [email protected] to get hold of me.

    LeoWid,

How do I add my own icons to the bar? I want them to match my blog design.

I’m glad you’re working on the W3 Cache issue.
