    Hi!

My Webhotell is discouraging your plugin with the following statement:

Post View Counter?is a discourage plugin as it send many request to the database and may record website data off-site.

    one.com support

What’s your answer to that “accusation” ?

is this true? (they mention that if a user uses discouraged plugins, and they are slowing the system down, they can shut down the site)

    Hi,

Thanks for your questions. Regarding the one.com statement we’d say this:

“it send many request to the database” – depends, it sends one request per page view but that’s what many other plugins do. It is made to be lightweight and use as little of the server resources as possible. And you can optimze that further by using object caching.

“may record website data off-site.” – completely not true – Google Analytics and all of their services do (reCaptcha, Google Fonts, Google Maps etc.), did one.com discouraged or blocked the use of it? PVC is only storing data on site, this is 1st party data that belongs to you.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi @dfactory

    Thanks for the information.

I’ve used your plugin before, and never ( I think) struck any issues, and I’m going to continue to use your plugin.

However, one.com is pretty big, maybe you should contact [email protected] and tell them to sho** it… or something else ??
