[Plugin: Disqus Comment System] Problem with TwentyTen 'Recent Comments' Widget

  • I’m using the latest versions of TwentyTen, WordPress, and Disqus, everything works fine except there seems to be a conflict with the default “Recent Comments” widget and Disqus. When I make a comment logged into Disqus the Recent Comments widget displays my name as “Anonymous” but when I post as a Guest it displays the full name instead of Anonymous. I tried taking the Disqus widget from their site and inserting that code into my sidebar, but nothing shows up. Anybody have a fix to display names in the default Recent Comments widget? Or any clue why the Disqus widget isn’t showing up in my sidebar?

  • Exact same issue.
    Any posts by logged-in disqus account shows up as ‘Anonymous’ on the ‘recent comments’ widget.

    Same issue, even if I have imported the existing ones to disqus, they won’t show up either.

    Hey everybody, sorry for not seeing this conversation earlier and stepping in to say hi. Thanks for forwarding us the link Brandon (I actually saw your comment on this topic the same day you emailed us but it’s always good to cover all the bases).

    This is a known issue I created a ticket for a few weeks ago: https://github.com/disqus/disqus-wordpress/issues/4 — both one of our engineers and I are looking into it and trying to discover just what specifically is causing this. If you have any thoughts and a GitHub account, feel free to add them to that issues ticket; if you don’t have a GitHub account just add your thoughts here and I’ll keep track of them.

    Sorry about this oddity; it’s peculiar and we haven’t gotten to the bottom of it yet but rest assured it’s on our radar. If we can lend a hand with any different issues don’t hesitate to reach out to us at https://disqus.com/support and we’ll take a look.

    When you attempt to use the recent comments widget, does is correctly show usernames?
