    Hello,

It seems that this very good plugin does not send email from an update to wordpress 5.4.2

Scheduler works with an external cron and backup are done, but no more notification.

The only case which works is when we create manually a backup, then a notification is sent.

I think wordpress is the culprit because there are same issue with other plugin (super cache for instance). And this even if we create an email account “[email protected]” as wordpress seems to use this address for the “from” fields of its sent emails.

    Best regards

if you still face issue please install “wp mail smtp” for email issue or please share your site admin details on [email protected] so that we can check issue.

    Hello Prashant,

    Thanks for your answer.
I switched to smtp for sending email (but not with a plugin, manually).
WP-Database-Backup send well an email when It has proceeded a backup (done manually), but no email when it executes (without any issue) a backup triggered by cron.
Well, Not really important: I prefer that the plugin makes correctly its job without telling me a notification, than other things …
I think the issue does not come from your plugin.
    Well done for your work.

Thanks for your kind of words.

I have noted your point and will try to workaround for this scenario.

If you have set cron job and there in no user visited site then cron job not run on that day. beacuse wordpress trigger cron file on user/admin view.

    Hello Prashant,

    Thanks for your suggestion.
You are right, but in my case, this is the server which execute the wordpress cron.
In fact, a cron job (executed each hour on the server, at xxh38) containing the wordpress cron. By this way, I’m sure that the WP cron is running even if there is no visit.

Before WP 5.4.2, Database Backup was executed twice a day, at 00h38 and 12h38. And I was notified, at these moments of the backup.
After WP 5.4.2, this is always the case: Database Backup works well at 00h38 and 12h38, but no notification mail.
Mail is sent only if I manually make a backup.

I switched to smtp, without using a plugin (in order to make a system too heavy). It sends correctly email.

Now, I’m sure this is not an issue with your plugin. Some other plugins (for instance Super Cache) have the same issue (refreshing cache every xx min, sends no more mail for notification).
I did not try WP 5.5

Well, another time, not so serious, and perhaps I’m the only concerned ?….

Have a good day and stay safe.
