I’ve installed the plugin and attempted 6 different feeds. Validated them. Cleared cache. Turned off all other plugins. Verified the most recent WordPress / PHP. Can’t seem to get the plugin to pull from any feed. Forced feed, non-forced. Nothing I do seems to help resolve the issue. I’ve been through the forums and support materials. Any other suggestions I might have missed?

  • You can install the WP Crontrol plugin to see if crons are stuck. We need the WP Cron system to be functioning correctly in order to schedule tasks that fetch and update feeds.

Visit Tools > Cron Events to check if there are any error messages or if the Next Run column has many tasks marked ‘now’. If you find a problem, please have a word with your host to fix the WP Cron.

Thank you so very much for the information.

I was able to install the plugin and got back this message. “Unexpected HTTP response code: 412”. The site is on a Godaddy server, and I think, if my research is coming up correctly, I need to talk with an administrator about getting permission for it to be allowed. From small readings elsewhere, some say that they only allow 10 crons per day. I’m not a great developer, so I’m still chasing this down to see what resolves it if admin permissions are necessary. I would guess I’m not the only GoDaddy customers using this plugin.

Any additional suggestions, or do you think I’m on the right trail?

Thank you again so much for your advice.

You’re right, we’ve seen sites hosted on certain GoDaddy plans face restrictions with cron. Can you have a word with GoDaddy support and request them to resolve this issue? Let us know their feedback.

Spoke with Rep (Julian) at Godaddy. They do not authorize this usage on their managed WordPress. You must use Cpanel hosting to be able to work with cron jobs. unfortunately. I’m not sure it’s going to work out for me. Thank you for your assistance.

    You’re welcome.

You will need to consider moving to another host or hosting plan that does not impose any restrictions on the WordPress cron.
