  • Hey nemoprofeta,

That is a large package. Some servers have timeout issues which do not allow the full zip archive process to complete. If your using the latest version 0.3.0 it should create a popup with a ‘System Constraint’ window which shows how long the process ran. If it continues to stop at the same interval over and over again then that is an indication of your servers timeout period.

There are some hints on the knowledge base on the FAQ page that might help you increase your timeout, however you may have to contact your host and find out what the specific solution is for your server…

Thank you for the very quick answer!
My site is on Bluehost, basic plan.
I never saw the popup you are mentioning, however I now checked the creation log and it reports no problems.
Both the parts regarding sql and files completed and files were created. The return code for the zip is 1, which I suppose is success.
    However, I think this line
    log:act__create=>unable to record to database.
means that the entry for the package couldn’t be created, so I can’t see it.
Can I manually download the files from the snapshots folder?

Finally, an OT. I think that the snapshot folder should be in the exclusion list by default, since it makes no sense to duplicate possible existing packages.

    Hey nemoprofeta,

From what your saying it looks like the web server was able to handle the duration of your process, however MySQL timed out. The plugin tries to set the wait_timeout for mysql to the maximum time set in the options dialog. However some MySQL servers are configured to ignore this setting. I still haven’t found a work around for this yet.

You can retrieve the package from the wp-snapshots folder and the installer from plugins/duplicator/files/installer.php

In the next version the installer will also be placed inside the snapshots folder so you will be able to grab them both from there.

As far as the snapshots folder it is automatically excluded from all backups..

    Hope that helps!

I did another test this morning. Looking at the snapshots directory via ftp, I found out that after the Duplicator page reloaded, the server continued for several minutes building the zip file, till it reached the previewed size.
I downloaded the zip, the sql and the installer but did not manage to install. The installer starts but, when starting installation, shows an error about the zip package.

If you want to send the installer log over to support.lifeinthegrid.com I can take a look at it for you. Be sure to reference this url thread.

    Thanks
