    Hi,

I am having trouble cloning my site from PC to PC. I am using WAMP.
What I did was following the steps of putting the downloaded package and the installer into my www folder.

After finishing the installation, when I go to localhost, it displays errors which are php codes. The site that I cloned is also on a localhost setting.

On the original site, I put a password on phpMyAdmin. The username is the default which is “root”. Do I have to change the password of the other PC so that it would have a successful installation?

    Please advise.

    Thanks

  • Hey Krauser,

Not 100% sure if I understand your question, but I’ll give it a shoot. On a PC to PC migration you will need to make sure to have 2 databases. 1 for the old site and 1 for the new site. So in phpMyAdmin you will need to see 2 separate databases. When you duplicate the old site and re-install the new one you will then need to connect to the new database.

Did you make sure that each site has it’s own database? You can still user the same ‘username’ and ‘password’ those are tied to the Database Engine and not a particular database.

    Does that help?

I noticed that when I finished installing, it automatically changed the wp-config.php file. Yes, I have a separate databases in phpMyadmin.

    Screenshot

This happens after I installed the package. It says I have successfully installed it and ask me to change the permalinks and other stuff. I also deleted insall.php, install mysql and other similar files which would cause issues. I also cleared out my cache.

I’m not so sure what went wrong in the installaion.

    Thanks

    Hey Krauser,

Based on that screenshot it looks like you need to update the max execution time in the php.ini file. See these instructions for more details…

    Hi lifeinthegrid,

I’ll do that. I tried it on another PC and the cloning was successful.

Thanks for creating this very useful plug-in. The developers are a genius!

    Hey Krauser,

Thanks for the kind words! It is a work in progress, with good support and feedback from the community I hope to make it much better…

    Cheers!
