My goal is to try add a sidebar widget on a certain blog category + the posts in that category. It seems to work if I add it on the main blog page but it doesn’t for my specific category.

I feel like all my settings are done correctly. I used the default “Quick Settings – Set all options to ‘No'” and made the necessary exceptions:

    Posts page – no
Single posts – no, except for [chosen category + all childs]

I have multiple occurrences of this widget set for pages (not posts) and those options worked fine for me.

Any suggestions on how to solve?

Set the same what you did for single posts also for category and you shoud be fine.

Maybe OLD method solves this issue. Try that and see if that helps. At the DW overview page, click advanced at the bottom, tick the checkbox for OLD method.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out here, Qurl.

When I went there it was already ticked. I pressed “Save” just in case, but still no results. Any other suggestions?

Your theme might be doing custom queries there. This is getting a bit more technical now. Try to add a wp_reset_query() just before the call of the sidebar.

I’m not too well-versed with php so I’m not sure what to do with that. That’s alright though, we just decided to have it display on the main blog. Thanks for all your help!
