Ok, this is interesting. What you want cannot be achieved witht he t=… argument that does work in the full (or short) URL. The URL with a &t=3m10s appended will result in a link to the normal Youtube page where the embedded movie will start at 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

So far, so good… But apparently this parameter is not available when embedding the movie directly on a web page. But there is something that is similar to it according to the embed player API specification:
https://code.google.com/intl/nl/apis/youtube/player_parameters.html#start

This means the &t=3m10s will have to be translated manually to &start=190 to make it work. Notice that the argument only takes a integer in seconds.

It will be interesting to have some kind of automatic conversion from t=x from the share URL to start=xx (where minutes will be translated to seconds!) for the embed URL in a future release. No promises yet but it’s on the TODO list ??

For now, you will need to do the conversion manually. So the 36 minutes and 30 seconds in the URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtleDhyCGbw&t=36m30s on your site (for example) will have to be converted to 2190 seconds. You can either just replace the t=36m30s with start=2190 or you can go for the straight embed URL https://www.youtube.com/embed/HtleDhyCGbw?version=3&start=2190&autoplay=1 (notice the autoplay=1 to make it start playing immediately)

Great! That worked. I went with the 2nd option – https://www.youtube.com/embed/HtleDhyCGbw?version=3&start=2190&autoplay=1. Do I have to change this URL to the traditional URL later or will this work all the time (when the plugin is updated, for example)
