  • I’ve just replaced editor-extender with tinymce-advanced, due to a conflict with another plugin (global content blocks), which adds a single button to the top row of the editor toolbar. I believe the problem lies with editor-extender, as GCB and tinymce-advanced play together just fine.

The biggest difference is that tinymce-advanced lets you reconfigure the entire toolbar area, including the top two rows; editor-extender uses the WP defaults for rows 1 and 2, and lets you choose groups of tools for rows 3 and 4.

The editor tools themselves are different, though. I haven’t tested every feature, but I am definitely not happy with tinymce-advanced’s table functions – they’re a bit buggy and not as user-friendly as editor-extender’s.
