Plugin error caused not to be able to do anything in admin

Hey there beezer26164,

The plugin membership/membership.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist

The above message is rather a warning message from WordPress so it’s not related to Membership 2 specificially. It is letting you know that plugin files are missing and it is displayed if you delete plugin files from FTP from the plugin that was activate on your site.

The same message is displayed only first time when you go to Plugins page in your admin and it should be removed automatically if you just refresh the page.

A plugin error caused my total Admin area useless

This is most likely due to the conflict with another plugin or your theme, I’d be more then happy to help you troubleshoot this if you’re willing to do some conflict testing, please let me know.

I’m assuming you’re referring to the troubleshooting part, so here is what you need to do in order to test this.

Deactivate all your plugins and then install and activate Membership 2. If you’re still having issues the problem is the theme that you’re using so in order to confirm this you can try activating one of the default themes to see if same thing is happening with the default theme.

If everything works with your theme and Membership 2 activated, try activating other plugins one by one to see which one is conflicting with it.

Once you have information on which plugin is causing this I’ll test this on my sandbox site and forward the information to our developer so he can investigate this further and possibly fix in one of the following updates.

For some reason I’m not being able to see your response anymore ??

I can do that but everything was working together fine and just all of a sudden things stopped working correctly?

I remember the problem started when I tried enabling the media protection addon…Something went wrong then and all I got was white pages in all admin!!! and my host’s support team had to come in and deactivate membership 2 plugin so I could regain my admin.

I understand, this is why I said this is a conflict with another plugin or a theme. It’s quite possible that media protection add-on is conflicting with another plugin or your theme causing fatal error in your admin.

Yes I’ll investigate further..If I activate the plugin will it cause my admin to disappear again? I’m afraid to activate the plugin and not be able to do anything else…What steps should I take to prevent this from happening…I don’t even care if media protection is activated.

You can’t really prevent it as this is a conflict and we are actually aiming for this to happen just under specific circumstances, you can follow the steps from my second response to pin point which plugin/theme is conflicting with Membership 2.

Once this happens and you have the information, what you can do to fix this is simply access your site files via FTP/cPanel and either rename or delete “membership” folder which you will be able to find in /wp-content/plugins/ which will fix the problem and it will give us information which we can forward to our developers ??

Since you mentioned this is related to Media Protection add-on you can test with and without add on activated to see if there is a difference.

When I activate membership 2 I get the following message: Membership 2 is set up for version 4.0.0.6! But I’m using version 4.0.0.7 What’s this?
