  • did you intended to remove other fields like the dates, country, state, search string etc. and retain only the categories? if this is the case and editing the way it looks you can edit the templates located at \plugins\events-manager\templates just copy the contents to your theme \themes\twentyten<your current theme>\plugins\events-manager\ for more info. please see the docs.

Agelonwl, I am a bit confused, I have located the events-search.php ( /public_html/wp-content/plugins/events-manager/templates/templates/events-search.php). However, I can’t figue out the theme path you mentioned. i.e path to I do not see any plugbut how do I copy it (after edit)

just copy the contents to your theme \themes\twentyten<your current theme>\plugins\events-manager\

And the line to the doc is dead i.e https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/

we need to fix that, but if you check wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/using-template-files/ that should help

Thanks for Marcus for the link. I have a multiuser site and since other sites will be using the same theme, I created a child theme of my current theme and then created the Plugin folder for EM and then I copied the EM templates form the the plugin folder i.e (public_html/wp-content/plugins/events-manager) to the chlid theme ( public_html/wp-content/themes/suffusion-child-africasite/plugins/events-manager/templates/templates).

I then edited the events-search.php file in the chlid them ( public_html/wp-content/themes/suffusion-child-africasite/plugins/events-manager/templates/templates/events-search.php) but this did not change anything on the event’s page https://britishcouncilblogs.org/africa/events-2/.

What I have I done wrong, Am I editing the right file?

    maybe try

    wp-content/themes/suffusion-child-africasite/plugins/events-manager/templates/events-search.php

    instead of

    ( public_html/wp-content/themes/suffusion-child-africasite/plugins/events-manager/templates/templates/events-search.php)

should work if you have the right files. did you try moving it to the parent theme? could be a bug if that works

    (@albertopoku)

Thanks Angelonwl, I will move to ‘events-search.php’ one folder backwards as suggested and see if that works, if it does not then I will have to use the parent theme as Marcus has suggested.

Thanks Angelonwl, After moving the ‘events-search.php’ one folder backwards as suggested, and taking out the codes of the options I do not need from ‘events-search.php’, everything turn out right https://britishcouncilblogs.org/africa/events-2/. Loads of thanks for your help

    Hi all,

    Thank you for this thread!

I needed the exact same thing as above, and was able to follow the example without any problems ??

I do have 1 question however, I read the last sentence at https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/using-template-files/ where is states:

Bear in mind that once you’ve found what you want to modify you should delete the other files. This is because any future updates made to these other areas of the plugin won’t make it to your modified theme anymore.

Could someone explain to me what I need to delete ?

All the other folders in the newly copied and renamed templates (to events-manager) folder Except for the templates folder,

    OR

All the other folders in the newly copied and renamed templates (to events-manager) folder Plus all the php files in the templates folder except for the events-search.php file that was modified ??

    Thank You !!

basically you just delete the things you don’t need or just copy files that you want to modify.

Hello, I am interested in doing this to, however, I am using the theme PlatformPro and cannot see a plugins directory within it’s files…

just copy the contents to your theme \themes\twentyten<your current theme>\plugins\events-manager\

basically you need to create it manually. for more info’s you might want to read the Events Manager plugin homepage for complete instruction

@ angelonwl- Thank you very much! This I can understand ??

@ Bristol CI- angelonwl is exactly right, I am also using the PlatformPro theme and had to create the folder manually.

    More info at this link:

    Best.

    Hello.

I am new to WordPress, and have installed Events Manager.

I read this post, but I cannot seem to make it work.

In the search options, I would like to remove the ‘country’, ‘region’, and ‘state’ drop-downs. Since my site is targeting local people only, I may want to replace these with a ‘city’ or ‘town’ drop-down instead.

Thank you for your help in advance!

    Phil
