    The shortcodes doesn’t work in the text widget. I tried it in a page but I can’t seem to find the right shortcode to make the months as links.

    sorry, I misread this, I thought you wanted events seperated by month, not a link in the actual month.

    The above isn’t possible with shortcodes, you’d have to program this. However, one thing you could try is generating archives for the event custom post type. Not sure if there’s a plugin for this, but I’d imagine there must be an easy way to generate an archive list for custom post types just like for normal posts.

    just for the shortcodes dont work in the widget part:

    add_filter(‘widget_text’, ‘do_shortcode’); <- into the functions.php of your theme and shortcodes are working in the widgets
