Firstly I was hoping to assign the button to simply like my page. So I setup the “default url to like” in the like button settings. Directing it to my page url.

In the preview at the bottom it looks just as it should, showing up with the existing like on my page. In the post itself however it just shows up as a post specific button and I can’t seem to find any way to make it reflect the preview.

Second, I tried setting up the open graph items in hopes of correcting the incorrect thumbnails that keep showing up. I tried both a direct url as well as the %POST_IMAGE% tag. Yet even on posts with a features image it did not change a thing. I also went to the debugger and it seems to resound that there is no image tag for the post. Here’s an example… https://www.prophotoshow.net/2011/12/09/environmental-portraits-for-the-love-of-it/

    Thanks… G

You can’t with an automatic insert of like button in single post/page
Because Url come from the current post.

If you want use same url in the like button everywhere, you mst insert it with shortcodes in your template.

Read this post to learn how to do

Sorry to hear that. A global like button is an essential feature. Have to use another plugin I guess. Thanks for the reply… G

No, it’s not an essential feature, you can use shortcode to insert it manually and set url, you can set widget with like box or like button with custom url too…

Facebook recommend to use it on product pages, landing pages etc…

Like box is here for that. A global like button can also do that.
But it’s a logical way to use unique button instead of globals, each time people like your posts, your presence on facebook will grow, and not from an unique subject and basic description of your general landing page but with a content with more value than general thing.

You should read the documentation about openGraph and Facebook logic sharing. It’s a page really complete to understand the concept.

    (sorry for my english…)

It’s essential to me. Evert post or page has a like button at the top for the post and a global like button at the bottom. FB buttons are all about traffic and any way to can drive that becomes relevant.

There’s a lot of plugins that add a “post only” like button. A lot less that offer a global one. I use the Social Sharing toolbar for the top as it gas G+, FB and others. What I really need is a global button option.

There’s no reason I would add it manually to every page when there are plugins that to it automatically. It makes no sense that in the settings I can set it for a page and it shows as such in the preview, but there is no option to make it default on the actual posts.

In any case it’s you’re plugin is solid volunteer effort and you’re certainly not obligated to include the features I need. I was hoping to consolidate and have a more all in one plugin but I’ll just have to use something else.

    Thanks
