[Plugin: Facebook Comments for WordPress] Spam!

  • Hi,

    wonderful plugin, thanks for creating and maintaining it. I have one small issue, and I’d like to address it.

    I’ve got comment spam like mad… like 6/hr. The worst part is that the spammers seem to have a way to use the default wordpress commenting option some way or another, because the comment spam is all captured by Akismet but obviously posted as a ‘real’ wordpress comment below any random post.

    How can this be done? Do spammerbots have ways of disabling fb comments in favor of the default wp commenting system??

  • I have the same problem;

    Am using Facebook comments exclusively on the site, but spam comments are caught by Akismet through the standard comment system (presumably spambots that directly target the comments php script).
    I know I can get rid of this by disabling comments for each post, but this will also disable Facebook comments.
    Is there a way around this?

    I also still haven’t found a solution for this. It’s what you said: if you disable WP comments, you’re also disabling FB comments….
