• This is a good plugin but it needs some major refinement:

    1. The default Admin email is inserted in each comment. So, if you have a plugin like a comment reply notification via email for your users (i.e. “Notify me of followup posts via e-mail “), you will receive in your mailbox a notification for every comment that is imported! I had a article that had 800 comments on my FB Page, and I got notified for each of them…. wait here’s more:

    2. I think if the plugin fails to connect, it re-imports the comments that has been previously imported all over again. So if it fails several times a day, you will get 3,4,5,6 duplicates of the same comment. So if I had 800 comments in one article… guess how many notifications I got?

    3. It does not have any spam control. So any spam placed in the Facebook post WILL be imported to your blog.

    4. It imports comments on any Page or Article even if you disable commenting on the Page or Article. If you post the article on your FB Page and someone comments on it, the comments will show up at the bottom of the blog article/page regardless.

I am disabling the plugin right now until a new version is ready that fixes the above. Like I said, this is a good plugin, just needs some fixing.

    Thanks!

    Hi btotanes,

    Thank you for your feedback,
I’ll take all your ideas in consideration for the next version.

I was aware of the points 1 and 3 and will correct this. Point 4 is easy to correct too.

However, I never noticed the second problem because I don’t have the chance to have FB posts with 800 comments (or even more than 10 ^^). So could I ask you to make some tests with development versions I’ll send to you ?

Sure, I’ll do some tests for you.

I already deleted the post with 800 comments since it was easier to do that than delete each and every duplicate comment, but you can see a smaller example here:

Send me the files to admin(at)definitelyfilipino.com

    Thanks,

Ben, I have a question. I have a fan page and also a personal page. I link my blog posts to both. I tend to get more comments on my personal page for whatever reason. Do you foresee an up date where I can configure the plug in for both pages instead of having to choose one or the other?
Also, I did just install a “subscribe to comments” plugin. I’m a little worried about my visitors getting bombarded with Emails if I am getting duplicate imported comments. Has this issue been resolved?

Very cool concept, by the way. Thank you.
