[Plugin: Facebook Page Publish] Incorrect post image and post title going to FB.

  • I’ve looked through various threads here and I’m still lost on a solution for these issues:

    1- The “post title” doesn’t show but the title of my blog does. I use the same name for my FB page. Maybe it’s choosing that instead and linking to my WP post.

    2- The “post image” doesn’t show either. Instead the emblem of my blog does. I use the same image for my FB page so maybe its taking it from there instead. If it matters I’m using a featured image for each post.

    In case it matters the plugins I have activated on my blog are:
    Akismet
    Custom Meta
    Facebook Page Publish
    MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer
    Simple:Press
    Table of Contents Creator
    TF FAQ
    WordPress SEO
    YOURLS: Short URL Widget
    YOURLS: WordPress to Twitter

    Hi MrMarco,

    It would help if you could post / send me a link to your blog. I can only assume that the Custom Meta plugin (or one of the others) adds OpenGraph tags to your html code – however, these tags are also used by Facebook Page Publish to tell Facebook wich title and image to choose. Such an incompatibility might be the cause for this problem.

    No problem… My blog is BodyByMarco That’s also the name of my FB page. Where you can see how the posts come across.

    I’ll try disabling the Custom Meta plugin before my next post and let you know.

    Thank you, too. I had a look at the html code of your blog and, as assumed, I found OpenGraph tags from another plugin. Unfortunately I cannot tell whether these tags come from Custom Meta or another plugin, so you would have to experiment a little.

    update:

    I disabled the custom meta plugin and still have the same problem. I’ll continue to disable plugins and hopefully find the culprit.

    I’ll report back here when I have more info.

    No not yet. So far I’ve disabled all plugins except for:

    Akismet
    Facebook Page Publish
    Table of Contents Creator
    TF FAQ

    I’ve been disabling one at a time with each new post and apparently I’ve been slacking on new posts… lol I do need to figure this out so I’ll do a few more posts to cover the remaining plugins and get back to you here.

    I was thinking, the theme I’m using came with a few added plugins like a shopping cart that don’t show up in my plugin list so I’m assuming they’re placed somewhere I’m not used to seeing them within the theme or wordpress install. One of them might be the culprit. Any thoughts on how to find out which are those files?

    I’m having some problems with the plugin to. It seems that the plugin randomly selects an image out of my post instead of using the featured image as the thumbnail for posting it to facebook.

    Is it possible for [Facebook Page Publish Plugin] to always use the featured post image for publishing to facebook?
