• I use Facebook Tab Manager on one of my sites. In Firefox, Safari, Opera the tab works fine . When I visit the tab on the FB Page the content from my website is shown. Normally I do not use IE but I tested IE 8 on XP and the Tab on the FB Page rewrites itself to the original webpage set as Canvas URL….. Strange behaviour, but probelematic

How to solve this annoying issue as a lot of people still do use IE8 unfortunately …….

Can you provide a link to the FB page where you’re seeing this behavior?

I’d also like to see what you have set as the canvas and tab urls. Are you using query strings or anything funky? Strictly speaking, it’s not even necessary anymore to include a canvas url if you’re not planning to display your content as an “app” rather than a “tab”

    Hi David,

Tnx for investigating.. I followed your advice, removed the Canvas URL, only TAB URL now, which is https://www.vakantie-in-ameland.nl/fbtab/welcome/ But still the same behaviour on IE8, noticed that on Safari Mobile the same happens (normal Safari everything is fine), on Rockmelt also the redirect / rewrite.. and Opera Mobile the page remains white….. Firefox, Safari and Chrome are working fine

    Hi David,

I think it has something to do with Facebook Tab interacting with WPTouch Pro module. I did noticed that in IE8 the site was presented in mobile mode, so I solved that problem (had to exclude SIE from the mobile User Agents, the part IE was the culprit). And after that the site was in Desktop mode in IE8 and the redirect problem in IE8 is gone.

What remains is the problem in e.g. Safari on the iPad. On the iPad you want the mobile iPad theme, so the same solution can not be implemented.

Any ideas there? Or maybe the plugin can be changed to handle that?
