[Plugin: Fast Secure Contact Form] Automatic Plug-in Update Caused Session Start Warning

    I have used it without issue for some time, until yesterday. After clicking the automatic plug-in update that was waiting for me, I created a new contact form. I then went to test the form to find the captcha image missing and unable to refresh. I am not convinced it was related to the update as I hadn’t checked that specifically before updating.

    In order to continue my test, I disabled captcha. I went back to check my new contact form and was presented with the following errors:

    I am also not convinced that the update broke it, as there exists a loose nut behind my keyboard….

    Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

    User error?

    In attempting to understand the problem, I dropped the offending file into dreamweaver to find line 1443 in hopes that a light bulb might turn on.

    As it turns out, a line of code in that area appears to tell the plug-in not to work if captcha is disabled. So, back to the contact forms to turn on captcha and the error goes away.

    However, the captcha image isn’t working. Which is a newly discovered problem.

    I have checked the box for “use without php”, and there was no change. I then check the box for “disable transparent…” and still no captcha image.

    I will now follow the “test to see if php will support” link and see if I can’t solve it.

    I am having the same issue!

    I had the same errors and on another site my captcha image is missing. The only thing that has changed is my web host is now running php 5.2. Would that have something to do with it, or is the plugin corrupt?

    Any ideas anyone has for fixing this would be great!

    Interesting Bad Kitty –

    My hosting recently “upgraded” me to newer, “faster” servers that are using php 5.2.

    I did not check my contact forms to see if captcha was working after the php change and before the plug-in update.

    Checking with my hosting now and will reply in a moment.

    Not sure if this will help others, but I did find the solution to my issue and all is working as it should.

    In my situation, my host migrated my account to a new server. During this process, a temp file was lost and not replaced. Apparently this file was necessary for the captcha to work. A quick call to my host had it resolved in a matter of 10 minutes.

    The error you posted indicates a problem with the server not having the /tmp/ folder available to PHP for sessions. It is missing or has the wrong permissions or ownership. It is something the web host can easily fix, not a problem caused by the plugin.
