• Hey Folks,

First time posting on the WP forums.

This is a pretty neat plugin, and it’s the only one I’ve found that does what I need a plugin to do (just make a few rows of thumbnail images, embeddable inside a post that link to their larger cousins).

One thing I have not been able to figure out, however, is how to insert multiple galleries per post.

It says as the #1 feature on the plugin page, “multiple galleries per post with custom attachment order” – but I can’t figure out how to do that, and I can’t find any instructions relating to that.

Does anyone have any idea on this?

    Thanks!

@theangryluddite: there’s a help file included with the plugin, and here’s an online version: https://skyphe.org/wp-content/plugins/file-gallery/help/index.html

basically, just select attachments you wish to include into a gallery, choose gallery options, and click on the “insert a gallery” button.

repeat as many times you want ??

I forgot to mention that I figured out how to do multiple galleries per post (with different images, as you choose).

You just need to give each image a media tag, and give each set a different one (like gal1, gal2, gal3, etc), and then click the ‘switch to tags’ button in the editor, select the tag you want (like gal1) and then it inserts all images tagged as that gallery.

Here it is in action for those curious.

    Hey

I am testing out this plugin as well. Hmm thumbnails link to full image just opens the image in the window. I thought it would use the default WordPress lightbox….guess not.

I notice you have included fancy box. Do you have some ideas on how to customize it?

@paaljoachim: something like this should do the trick:

    [gallery link="file" linkclass="thickbox"]

    Great that did the trick!
It is ugly as heck though…:)

Many other lighboxes have arrows in the middle all the way to the left and right. Some also have thumbnails. How can I modify thickbox. Got to dress it up..:)
Or perhaps a better idea is to find another lightbox either wordpress plugin or Jquery and use that.

It says thickbox on the media page, which means one can add other lightboxes as well (it seems).

Any ideas to get either thickbox or another lightbox to look pretty..:)
It would be nice to customize whichever lightbox one uses. Perhaps you could also add some info about this into your help page?

    Thanks!

I’ve been trying multiple lighbox plug-ins the past week and found Lightbox Plus to be the easiest and best looking
    https://www.23systems.net/wordpress-plugins/lightbox-plus-for-wordpress/

It was also very easy to customize…although I had to do it directly in their css files, not the child theme.

Are you still happy with File Gallery? I was searching for multiple galleries and came across this thread.
