The plugin has listed some links as 404 not found. However, when I go to the page in the “Found On” column, the links in the “Broken URL” column are not actually on that page.

Should I tell it to ignore the link or report as not broken? Neither one seems to fit this situation.

    Hi @freckles1224

I hope you are doing well today.

Could you let us know your site URL so we could review logs on our side?

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Hi, the website is goodwin.edu

It found links within the about section and stripped out about saying they are broken. For example it found goodwin.edu/history but the actual link is goodwin.edu/about/history

    Hi @freckles1224,

Hope this message finds you well and thanks for the link.

We were unable to find that website, but we found https://www.goodwin.edu/enews.

Still, I can confirm https://www.goodwin.edu/history does not exist and is returning a 404 error.

    >>> https://www.goodwin.edu/history

Please confirm the WordPress site installation is https://www.goodwin.edu/enews.

    Hi Freckles1224,

Ive had the same problem, and on my site it seems, the links are ok but due to (sometimes) slow responding times of server or broken link checker etc, the broken link checker replies the links arent working. To the broken links check team I suggest (if not already there) to install varying check speed / return answer speed settings, so the system reckognizes the sometimes low sped servers.

    Mind you, I am only guessing… ??

    Hi @rolfgoebel,

I hope you are doing well today!

Thanks for your input. There is a timeout already in the requests and if the response times out then the error code will be according to that. The error code in Cloud is 25 Internal Request Timeout and those links can be ignored.

    Kind regards,
    Zafer

Broken link checker said that it found goodwin.edu/history on goodwin.edu/about. However there are no links to goodwin.edu/history on that page. The correct link is goodwin.edu/about/history.

Broken link checker is stripping out the directory from the URL (in this case about) and saying that it is a broken link.

    Hi @freckles1224,

Thanks for the update, now is clear.

After taking a close look at goodwin.edu/about I was able to find an element that contains a link to history, kindly refer to this image.

The href is “history” since there is no full link on it or a slash / the link will act as a relative link, which is the expected behavior.

But, it seems the BLC crawler is detecting it as an absolute link and that’s why is returning as a broken link.

I did ping our BLC team about this and we will back to you once we get a reply from them.

    Kind regards,
    Laura
