[Plugin: Flickr Shortcode Importer] Link to flickr in the description

Can you please provide an end result sample of what you’re wanting as I’m not fully sure if there’s 1 or 2 requests here?

Next, if you want the link added to description field, how should it be formatted? Full, partial, not at all?

Sample of input and output would be most helpful.

For my personal use, the output would be a simple text :
This image was also posted on <a href ="https://www.flickr.com/photos/trau_kainehm/6261164755">flickr</a>. or, the perfect solution:
This image was also posted on <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/trau_kainehm/6261164755/in/set-72157627685464735">flickr</a>

For a more general use, an option field for a template text would make sense. And I guess the SEO crowd loves a rel=canonical added to the link ??

Flickr Shortcode Importer 1.4.4 has been pushed to WordPress SVN with the requested flickr back links. It should be available for downloading within a couple of hours.

If single image only, then backlink to the single image. If of flickrset, then the in/set- link is given.

1.7.0 is out that lets you import [flickr] shortcodes while editing your posts. It’s handy for finding the flickr images you want via one tool and then importing them into your blog.

Have you any other needs for the extension?

I guess you are asking for some further ideas to add. And I got one ??
For my own use, I am just importing my own photos and have no problems with copyright.

For a general use, there’s a specific way to use images under creative commons license.
I had a look and you get both the license name and the link to it via the API.

I think you would do a favor to the CC-Community by changing the description to $picture was published on flickr by $user under $license with $license as a link to the CC-Text. Many bloggers are to lazy to get those links right.

I appreciate the response. I was reviewing a few other Flickr plugins and in only one did I notice the license being pulled.

First, which version of flickr-shortcode-importer are you using?

I think I should bring in the license as well and revise the descriptive text.

The descriptive text is currently defaulting to “Photo by $user”. If I understand you correctly, you think “Photo by $user under $license” would be better.

Is that correct?

What was used for “$picture”?

Hi Michael,

I was on the road for some days and responded without upgrading the plugin. I’m now on 1.7.2 and the wording is fine.

But in my first tests, the licenses were resolved the wrong way.
On flickr, the images were attributed by, https://www.flickr.com/services/api/explore/flickr.photos.getInfo responded license=”4″ and after importing it is resolved to by-nc-nd

I used sort than ksort after creating the internal licenses array.
