Plugin for stopping fake registrations?

  • Sorry for a surely newbish question… but as I’ve been getting an annoying amount of fake users signing up, I am looking for a plugin that will stop this without adding annoyance to my actual human commenters. I’m using akismet for comment spam blocking, and it’s great. but the users are the problem.

    I am the only user, and always will be the only user, so is turning off “anyone can register” just as good to solve the problem?

    Certainly, if you never want to open up registration to outside users, there is no reason to offer it. Switching off registration will of course stop the fake registrations. ??

    If you ever want to invite others to participate as users on the blog, you can always manually add them via Users -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard.
