[Plugin: Freebie Images: Free Stock Images Plugin] Does Not Work with Excerpts

I thought this would be a great plugin for my multi-author blog. Like most blogs, mine uses excerpts on the front page. Post thumbnails require native images, not images imported via URL, like the images displayed by this plugin. Hence, no post thumbnail images in front page post excerpts. I hope in a future version, the plugin authors include an option to allow the images to be downloaded.
