[Plugin: Front-end Editor] Working – but depends…

    Hi
    I have a single install of WP with a few themes to choose from. I’m having varying success with this plugin depending on not just the theme but also the functionality of the theme (eg built in slideshow).
    The error I get is:
    TypeError: 'undefined' is not a function (evaluating 'this.indexOf(o)') of aloha.js:11990
    ..this is even after modifying the theme as per the help file in the plugin FAQ.

    Also get some z-index issues with the toolbar popups being behind the floating toolbar itself -OR- the media selection is behind the post featured image.

    Yes, this is the price that must be paid for having a plugin that works with any theme out of the box.

    Some alternatives:

    * bake inline editing into each theme, as in P2, for example
    * use a non-inline WYSIWYG editor

    As for your specific problems, it would help if you would link to where the themes that are causing errors can be downloaded.

    I find the comment ‘use a non-inline WYSIWYG editor’ really unhelpful. I want an inline editor.
    The javascript error was specific only to a particular paid theme – certainly don’t expect all themes to work out the box nor support for specific themes.
    Z-index issues are present on most themes in one way or another.
    For example with theme Twenty Eleven 1.3 there’s a z-index issue when the you edit a featured image on a page. The inline toolbar floats behind the image as it’s z-index is 102 and the theme sets the image’s at 9999.
    Plus – on any theme – the tooltips on the toolbar are behind the toolbar.
