[Plugin: Frontpage-Slideshow] How do I add this to my home page?

Hi,

I was wondering how to go about adding this to my home page. Officially, the home page is not really a page, I think it’s just embedded as the front page of the theme. So I can’t make the front page static because officially it doesn’t exist in the drop down menu of “pages” to make static. I tried adding the short code to the index file of the theme, but it just shows up on my front page as text. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
