very constructive, no more to say ?

If anyone is using a Lightbox plugin, it will cause jquery to be loaded twice, and create a conflict with Frontpage Slideshow.

Some Lightbox plugins (like Fancybox by Jose Pardilla) allow you to disable the jquery call. This fixed the problem for me.

please complain about this problem to Jose Pardilla and tell him to use the WordPress API to use Jquery and other javascripts…

Jeff, I’m not complaining. I’m letting users know that some plugins allow you to disable jquery in order to avoid conflicting with other plugins. I’m not suggesting that you add this feature to your plugin (though it would be helpful). I’m simply hoping that this information will resolve a problem that a lot of users seem to be having.

I’m not sure why you’re so defensive Jeff, but nevertheless thanks for the plugin.

I’m not defensive at all ?? I just ask you, as a user of one of its plugins, to tell him that this plugin need to be modified to comply with wordpress way of using javascript… because it is causing troubles with other plugins thats all ??

No problem Jeff. Actually Fancybox is one of the plugins that works very well with your plugin, since it allows users to disable the jquery autoload. Many other lightbox plugins dont have that option.

At any rate, Frontpage Slideshow is a really versatile and useful plugin. Thanks again.

    thks a lot ??

i know what the solution is:

    – try reducing the number of slides to show and you will see what I am saying
    – also if there is an image that for certain reason does not load properly then the problem will remain

I was only having problems with IE 7 and IE 8, and then just intermittently. It works fine on Chrome, Firefox and even on my Iphone with Safari.

Initially I was able to see error text in my browser that showed there was a conflict with a plug in called Connections. I wasn’t using it anyway so I deactivated and deleted. I still have images not loading intermittently in IE7 and IE 8 – like everyone else it seems like if the cache is clear, the images show up. Like, if you go to a fresh computer and open the site in IE, it’s OK. It seems to be cycling through the posts but not showing images.

Removing all the plugins and re-activating didn’t help a lot because it’s so intermittent. I think I’ve found the culprit and then the problem reappears. The problem happens in the default TwentyTen theme also so I don’t think it’s the theme.

I was using the newest version of Frontpage-Slideshow. So, I downgraded to .8 and installed manually. Same result.

I really like this plugin a lot and would like to use it but unfortunately IE is still the most-use browser so I can’t have this not work.

Im sorry, i updated the plugin and now it doesnt show the images.
