[Plugin: G-Lock Double Opt-in Manager] Could be improved

  • Offers some nice subscription management functionality, but:

    • Subscription form generation is completely reliant upon JavaScript support, with no graceful degradation for script-less/disabled browsers, resulting in missing subscription forms!
    • Form ‘label’ elements don’t use the ‘for’ attribute – using ‘for’ aids accessibility and usability generally.
    • Inelegant subscription form mark-up – e.g. submit button is difficult, though not impossible, to target with CSS in IE6 (yes, some of us still have to support that piece of crap).

    thanks for your comment. We already have these improvement ideas on our to-do list. They all will be implemented in the next version of the plugin.

    I hate to pile this on another comment, but I’m not sure how to start a new message to you here….

    Your subscribe form is missing some kind of closing tag (because if it is not the last widget in the column then the title of the next widget bleeds into the subscription form). I’d say it was the template, except your widget is the only one exhibiting the behavior.

    But what I really really need is to use the widget real estate efficiently.

    That means a SMALL form on the widget with only:
    Title of widget
    Email: [ ] (go)

    This mini form could post to a PAGE with the full form that includes First Name, Last Name, Email (already filled in) and all the disclaimers and other goodness like reasons to subscribe, custom fields (ie daily vs weekly updates, etc etc etc.)

    If you tell me how to build a form that posts to your plugin, I can code all this by hand… unfortunately you’ve hidden all the form details in some javascript magic that I can’t reproduce.

    Would it be possible to get the secret sauce for building my own subscription form that posts to your plugin for the heavy lifting?

    I’m having trouble with it showing in the sidebar at all. It shows in IE just fine, but not Firefox. Browser issue? Any way to fix it?
